Candle-making workshop with ALO & Guerison Home

You probably noticed that ALO took over Amsterdam pretty quickly. Since their store opening in July, they’ve grown fast, building a community of ALO lovers (mostly yoga and running fans). How did they do it? By organizing free events across the city, from pilates classes to candle-making. I was lucky enough to join one today at When Nature Calls, and I can’t wait to tell you more about it!

About guerison home

The candle-making workshop was led by Noemi from Guerison Home, a beautiful vegan candle brand infused with gemstones and handcrafted right here in Amsterdam. If you haven’t seen them yet, you need to check out their zodiac collection!

I actually met Noemi for the first time at When Nature Calls back in July, where she hosted a manifestation & reiki class. That experience was so transformative that I’ll save it for its own article – it really deserves the spotlight. So back to candles!

My first candle-making experience!

It was actually my first time ever making candles (except for those little honey wax ones back in art class). But as Noemi explained, this wasn’t your usual candle-making workshop. Guerison candles are created with natural ingredients, infused with intention, gemstones, and essential oils – made to be more than just candles, but a ritual for finding a moment of presence when you light them.

That’s exactly why ALO organized this workshop. It wasn’t just about bringing the community together, but it was also about creating a mindful moment. We started with a short grounding meditation, and even the candle-making process itself invited us to slow down. Every step was intentional and careful, reminding us to pause, unwind, and simply be present.

We got to choose from four different crystals and about six blends of natural oils. I went straight for the Zodiac Collection blend – a mix of spicy, floral, and woody notes. Honestly, I think I was mostly drawn to the name of the blend (it just spoke to me!), but luckily, it also smells absolutely amazing.

CHoosing crystals (yay)

Each crystal, of course, carries its own special energy, and we were invited to choose the one that resonated with us most. I felt drawn to citrine – the stone of self-esteem, creativity, and energy. It feels so aligned with where I am right now, as I step into new creative ideas. So I picked the biggest citrine that was there! And some little rose quartz and amethyst. My plan is to light this candle whenever I’m writing for LOVABLE or planning a new event, as a little ritual of support and inspiration!

At the end, we even got to design our own label. I wrote down my intention for the candle: “activate creativity.” I love this personalized touch – whenever I create something myself, it carries my energy, and that makes it feel so special. I honestly can’t wait to light it up, especially because the essential oils smell sooo good. The candle is made with soy wax, and the scent is already filling the box – I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to smell it just by passing by, even when it’s not burning!

I feel so lucky that Noemi invited me because, apparently, there was even a whole waitlist! You can actually check out ALO’s events in Amsterdam here. I had no idea things like this even existed, but it’s such a sweet (and smart) way for them to build community. Definitely keep an eye on their calendar and join one of their events if you can! And of course, make sure to discover more about Noemi’s Reiki classes at When Nature Calls – I’ll share more about that experience next time. If you’re looking for some creative workshop to slow down, this is it.

The LOVABLE journey

This workshop reminded me how powerful it is to slow down, connect, and create something with intention. These are exactly the kind of moments that inspire LOVABLE.
